I'm faithful viewer of B&B and Y&R for many years. Therefore, I was surprised that according to Eva Longoria's website she once had a small role on B&B... Is it true - because I can only remember her run as Isabella on Y&R?

My mother and I are in disagreement about the history of Ridge Forrester. I used to watch B&B from the begining faithfully everyday!!! My mother used to watch it occassionally. I remember Ridge's first wife was a newspaper magnents daughter who passed away and Brooke was his second wife. My mother only remembers Ridge being married to the first wife and then to Taylor. Is there anyone who can help settle this?
Your mother is right...Ridge was married to Caroline and then Taylor before his first marriage to Brooke...(and Brooke married Eric before she married Ridge).

I am really going to test someone's memory here, but I would like to know exactly where Taylor and Ridge got together at Saint Thomas island and the resort where they stayed. I live in Australia and will travel to the Virgin Islands soon and would to visit the location.

My question is about the show on 2-7-05. Where were the outside scenes taken from? I know the cabin was taken from the studio but where was the outside taken from? They were on location up near the mountain resort of Big Bear, California, in the San Bernadino National Forest. It's about two hours from Los Angeles.

I was reading your FAQ section and the answer to the question of "original" cast members is incorrect. Stephanie was played originally by Carolyn somebody. I know that she played Morticia Addams in the Addams Family sitcom. She passed away and there is where the new Stephanie came in.
Carolyn Jones created the character of Myrna Clegg on CAPITOL, the show which B&B replaced. When Carolyn, who played Morticia on the Addams Family, passed away, she was replaced by Marj Dusay (who is now on Guiding Light). Susan Flannery created the role of Stephanie Forrester on B&B.

In Sheila's final tirade, she shot Taylor Forrester, who later died. Erica was last seen leaving town after berating her mother for ruining her life and trying to change her into Sheila (who was once married to Rick's father Eric). Sheila is presumably still in jail for her crimes.

Ridge and Brooke have been actually married twice. Their first marriage, which occurred in 1994 when Taylor Hamilton Hayes Forrester was presumed dead, was deemed invalid. They also married in 1998. Brooke walked down the aisle to Ridge in 2003 but ended up leaving before the ceremony ended.

Isn't Bridget really Ridge's daughter? I remember BOTH paternity tests were tampered with and that the REAL father was never determined - isn't that correct?
No. The first paternity test was tampered with thanks to Sheila Carter who wanted Eric Forrester for herself. This caused Ridge to believe Bridget was his daughter. Much later, when Ridge was leafing through one of his favorite books, he found a letter to Brooke from Dr. Tracy Peters. It said she would claim Ridge was Bridget's father whether that was true or not for $1 million. Brooke claimed the letter was fake, but reluctantly agreed to a second independent paternity test. It was revealed that Eric was Bridget's biological dad.

Though Amber is not my favorite character, I do like her jewelry and that of the others on the show. Where do you get these pieces and are they available to the public? Do you have a site that sells replicas of the show's jewelry?

However, this put his life in danger because the heads of the scheme found out. He disappeared, leaving Sally Spectra and a young Macy behind. In the meantime, he fathered Kimberly Fairchild, Macy's half-sister.

This caused serious problems between the brothers, as well as between Thorne and his mother Stephanie. Ridge and Taylor raised Thomas together, along with twin daughters Steffy and Phoebe until her death in 2002.

When Sheila was on the show before, and married to Eric, she did not have any children. She later had a daughter with James named Mary, but not Erica. Who is Erica and where did she come from?
Erica and Mary are the same person. When Sheila kidnapped her baby Mary after breaking out of psychiatric prison, she went into hiding and renamed her daughter Erica Lovejoy.

The girls' clothing mostly come from The Gap. Bridget's apparel is usually INC (a Macy's Department Store brand), Banana Republic, Fury, and Kenneth Cole.

How can Thorne and Macy still be married when he was married to Brooke?
The night that Macy was presumed dead after the car explosion, Brooke had brought her divorce papers because Brooke and Thorne wanted to be together. But Macy took off with Brooke in the car before they were signed. Since Macy did not die, and the papers were not signed, Brooke and Thorne were never really married. Thus, the Forrester family lawyer, Jonathan, found out the marriage between Macy and Thorne was still valid, which annulled the marriages of Macy and Lorenzo and Brooke and Thorne.

When and how did Macy reappear? I thought she died in an auto accident?
Macy reappeared in Portofino, Italy in December 2002. She was injured in the accident, but her father Adam saved her life. She went into hiding with him, along with Lorenzo, whom she dumped for Thorne. A burned body was found at the accident scene, but it was that of a female truck driver trying to help, and not Macy's.

I missed the episode where Deacon and Whip had a fight. Who won the fight? I saw Whip put Deacon on a plane, but Whip looked as though he was beaten. Deacon had a cut on the side of his head. How did this occur?
What happened was Deacon has beaten up Whip initially. Later Whip creeped up on a sleeping Deacon and hit him over the head with a blunt object. Then Whip transported Deacon to the Forrester jet and sent him back to Los Angeles leaving Whip and Brooke alone again.

Sometime back when baby Steffy was presumed dead/drowned, it turned out that she had really been kidnapped. I cannot remember who kidnapped her. Can you please remind me who kidnapped her? Thank you!
Morgan kidnapped Steffy and kept her hostage in her house.

I really love The Bold and the Beautiful. I watched it in Canada for a few years and I am now here in England. It was on Channel Five for a long time and then, they stopped showing it. It appeared on Living TV for a short time. They are airing the last episode tomorrow, May 31. Do you know if any other English station will be showing it soon? I shall really miss watching it!

The painting that you are referring to was actually created with reddish yarn. It has become a bold signature of the Forrester mansion. Unfortunately, the artist is unknown. The artwork was first purchased when the show premiered.

Amber's son's name is Little Eric but he is not her biological son. He is the son of her cousin Becky who died of cancer leaving Amber to raise him. His biological father is Deacon Sharpe.

What happened to Amber's pregnancy? I guess I missed several episodes. The last I knew she was very pregnant and a budding clothing designer. What happened?
Amber was pregnant, but lost the baby during her operation after collapsing at the end of her fashion show.

De dames raken behoorlijk aangeschoten en dan biedt Stephanie Sally een baan aan bij Forrester. Nick gaat nog even langs bij Brooke. Hij geeft haar een armband als teken van hun vriendschap.

Dinsdag 4 april
Dat drank meer kapot maakt dan haar lief is, ontdekt Sally als ze wakker wordt met een flinke kater. Ze herinnert zich dat ze Stephanie een metamorfose heeft gegeven en wil het huis uitvluchten. Nick en Massimo gaan naar Puerto Vista, omdat ze vermoeden dat de terroristische beweging daar het voorzien heeft op Ridge. Ridge heeft als pasgetrouwd man hele andere zaken aan zijn hoofd. Als hij zijn bruid innig kust, wordt hun omhelsing verstoord door een vogel. Hij verjaagt het dier, maar als Brooke is gaan douchen, komt de vogel terug. Als Brooke weer de kamer binnenkomt, is Ridge verdwenen.

MARIO LOPEZ joined the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful as Dr. Christian Ramirez. Yes, another Ramirez -- Hector's brother! CBS.com caught up with Mario in his dressing room to chat about his new gig and found out how it might be taking him one step closer to his ultimate goal.

MARIO LOPEZ joined the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful as Dr. Christian Ramirez. Yes, another Ramirez -- Hector's brother! CBS.com caught up with Mario in his dressing room to chat about his new gig and found out how it might be taking him one step closer to his ultimate goal.

CBS.com: How did your casting come about?
MARIO LOPEZ: Well, I was called into a meeting with [Executive Producer and Head Writer] Mr. [Brad] Bell, and he couldn't have been a nicer guy. [He was] super cool, real down-to-earth, which was surprising because of all the stuff he's accomplished and the family [he is from]. He just talked to me for a while and got to know me a little bit. He told me that he used to watch me on The Other Half, the daytime talk show I did with Dick Clark and Danny Bonaduce. So he said that he liked that and said, "I thought you were good on daytime. I know you're involved in a lot of different things. Have you ever considered doing a soap?" I said, "I never turn down opportunities. I'm willing to listen and be open to it." I liked when I did that [daytime talk] show for a few seasons and the daytime audience. He said he had this character who was a doctor, a very positive character, which is very important to me and the Latino community. He also said he would be supportive of all the other stuff I like to do because I still work for ESPN and do some boxing stuff for HBO. I love hosting. Then I told him, "This would be great in my goal to become like the male Kelly Ripa." [Smiles] I want to host. I want to act. And this show being a successful show and the big audience it has, I think it would be great. And [he was] willing to work with me to do the other stuff, it sounded awesome. With all that said, he didn't just hand it to me. I still had to come in and test and read with one of the actresses. She was great. Then that was it. We made the deal and it worked out like that.

CBS.com: So you hadn't actively been pursuing Daytime Drama?
MARIO LOPEZ: Well, I always in the back of my mind thought, "That's a cool gig." I think the audiences are good and it's great that Mr. Bell has the top shows and this one being the most watched in the world. That was cool. I love to travel and to get the opportunity to travel and do stuff abroad sounded really cool. The other shows that I've done, Saved By The Bell and Pacific Blue are big international hits as well, so to broaden your international fan base sounded great. I had thought about it before but the opportunity didn't ever really present itself. I was busy enough to where I didn't necessarily have to pursue anything before. So, this came up at a really good time.

CBS.com: How did the transition between acting and hosting happen for you?
MARIO LOPEZ: I've always done everything. I just think of myself as an entertainer, in all forms. I've hosted radio shows; I hosted sports talk shows on the radio; I've hosted sports shows on TV for ESPN; I've done boxing for ESPN; I've done boxing for HBO; I've done women's talk shows; I've done episodic; I've done sitcoms; I've done movies and I've produced stuff and now I'm doing a soap. I try to do it all. It's a tough business. I try to stay as busy as I can.

CBS.com: Sounds like you're always looking for something new to conquer.
MARIO LOPEZ: I just want to be as well versed as possible and try to stay as busy as possible. If I sat around and waited by the phone for certain things, you're not going to be too busy. So, I either try to create opportunities for myself and go out there -- oh and I've hosted animal shows. Sports, animals, women -- the whole deal. I've done it all. Game shows, too. I like people and I like getting to be myself. So, I feel just as comfortable without a script, probably more comfortable without a script than I do with. But I do love acting as well. To be able to do both is great. There are no rules so I manage to try to do everything.

CBS.com: What was it that attracted you to this role?
MARIO LOPEZ: He was a good guy and he's got no skeletons in his closet that I know of. He doesn't seem shady. [He's] very bright, a doctor, so a positive [role model] teaching Mexican kids playing doctors. Again, it's good for my community. I like that he's a positive role model and that was very appealing to me.

CBS.com: Is that always something that's in the forefront of your mind when you're choosing projects, how you are sending a message out to the Latin community?
MARIO LOPEZ: I've been lucky to play a lot of positive characters. I've played a couple shady ones. But for the most part, I like being a good guy because we have enough bad guys out there.

CBS.com: Were you familiar with the show before landing the part?
MARIO LOPEZ: I was familiar with the show. It comes on right around lunch time so whenever I'm hanging out at lunch I can watch from my dressing room on other shows.

CBS.com: You used to watch soaps?
MARIO LOPEZ: Oh yeah. When I did my show ESPN Hollywood we did a whole segment on athletes who love soaps. You'd be surprised how many watch it. And they get into it. I used to get into them. They're very addicting. But then it's hard when you're working during the day, but sometimes if you're lucky enough to have a lunch break, that's what's on.

CBS.com: I often hear that this genre affords you a sort of set schedule so that you can pursue other things. Was it that schedule that also appealed to you?
MARIO LOPEZ: I want to be busy doing other things. So that was attractive, not so much that I want to go ride my bike or do another hobby, but I wanted to have the opportunity to do other stuff.

CBS.com: Tell me about how your first day went.
MARIO LOPEZ: The first day was cool, everybody was very nice, very professional. I was lucky enough to work with Susan Flannery [Stephanie].

CBS.com: Was that nerve-wrecking at all? She's an icon of daytime drama.
MARIO LOPEZ: She was cool. I was really lucky to have most of my scenes with her, as a matter of fact. She's a great lady and obviously a wonderful actress. I'm lucky to have most of my stuff with her.

CBS.com: Your character is brother to Lorenzo Lamas' character Hector. What's their relationship like?
MARIO LOPEZ: We've only had a couple scenes together and I think they are close, tight brothers. And he's just busy. They have their own careers and so [my character's] been gone for a while. So, they reunite and try to pick up where they left off.

CBS.com: Was this the first time you'd met Lorenzo Lamas?
MARIO LOPEZ: No, I'd met him before. He's a good guy.

CBS.com: You've held every job in entertainment practically. Is there anything that you still want to do?
MARIO LOPEZ: I want to host my own daytime talk show again. I like that we had kind of like a male format of The View. I'd like a crack at something like the Live with Regis and Kelly format with another female and eventually my own [talk show]. That's something I really want to work towards. Hopefully this audience will get me familiar with the viewers. I think the daytime audience is already familiar with me through all the other stuff I've done, especially with the other show being on everyday. But I'd love to definitely make that happen.

CBS.com: Would you say that the experience you had with The Other Side was your favorite?
MARIO LOPEZ: It was an experience that kind of helped me realize that that's a good niche that I found there. I've always hosted different things so that I really feel very comfortable, very much at home and I think I can contribute a lot to that.

CBS.com: That show dealt with a lot of women's issues. Do you understand women more?
MARIO LOPEZ: I get asked that a lot. I don't have one specific thing. Not really. [Women] are like medicine. They're a constant study. But I just learned to appreciate that we're just different. And you don't need to figure them out, just appreciate the fact that we're just different species. If you keep that in mind and you're patient then you'll be a lot better off then to kill yourself as a man to try to figure out why they do this and why do they behave like that. You got to keep reminding yourself, "They're women."

CBS.com: What are your hopes for the future of your character?
MARIO LOPEZ: I'm just getting in there, getting my feet wet with everything. But I hope to stay busy and show different layers and see what comes with the storyline. Hopefully I get to work with a lot of the different actors. I've only gotten to work with two or three so far. Hopefully I'll get to work with a lot of the cast and get into some good drama.

CBS.com: A lot of times we hear that the pace of daytime is the biggest transition for actors coming from different genres. Has that been something you had to get used to?
MARIO LOPEZ: Yeah, that tripped me out. That is something I had to get used to but I like it because I like moving quick. I'm a hyper guy, on the go, so I appreciate that pace.

CBS.com: Do you have any hobbies?
MARIO LOPEZ: I got a lot of hobbies. I like exercising. Fitness is important to me, so I box. I box a lot for work and pleasure. So I know what I'm talking about when I'm talking about these fighters for the [ESPN] show. I like to dance. I spend time with my family visiting. I love to eat. I love movies. I love being in [Las] Vegas. I love gambling. I love going out and having a good time

Tussen the bold and the Beautifull leegte en zijn minder aandeel in het verhaal heeft Thorne meer tijd voor andere zaken. Gelukkig houdt het verhaal hem nog bezig enals hij thuis is heeft hij zijn oogappel Sonny Harmon III.
"ik geniet van de kleine jongen," zegt de trotse papa. "Hij is nu op de leeftijd van ontdekken. Hij is net 2 maar loopt voor op zijn leeftijd. Ik leerde hem zwemmen. Het kind springt van de jacuzzi. We hebben hem al leren duiken en dat is al de moeite.
Wanneer hij de paparol niet heeft ligt hij met zijn vrouw, Deanna aan het zwembad of doet hij klusjes. Ik kom terug op mijn architectuurhobby onthult hij en ik ontwerp meer voor het huis en maak het dan zelf.
Maar bij dat alles kwam een einde in de laatste week van juni toen hij naar het Monte Carlo Televsie Festival met Ronn Moss Ridge) afreisde. "Het was onvergetelijk. We wilden altijd al samen reizen en hadden veel plezier. Laat het ons zo uitdrukken we gingen weg als de zon opkwam en kwamen terug als de zon terug opkwam, lacht hij.
Het was een "a once-in-a-lifetime trip". Het hoogtepunt was dat we Prins Albert tegen kwamen en ons goededag kwam zeggen hij kende ons bij onze namen.
De twee moesten ook werken tijdens het festival, tze waren aanwezig op de awardsuitreiking en the premeiere party van DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES (deze serie begon net in Monaco).
Daarnaast deden ze ook aan sightseeing. Ze gingen naar de Monte Carlo en de casino's. We gingen naar San Marino, waar ze spontaan een plaats openden omdat Ridge en Thorne er waren. We hadden een lunch in het kasteel te Eze, het derde beste restaurant in de wereld. En het eten was er voortreffelijk.
Zijn buikje was nog niet echt vol en Harmon nam het vliegtuig naar de KLFY-TV Acadiana Women's Expo in Lafayette, Los Angeles.
"Wild as hell," roept hij uit. "Ik ben van Crowley, [La.,] afkomstig en dat is Cajun. Jamie Bergeron, een getalenteerde zanger, heeft een uitstekende band (The Kickin' Cajuns) van Zydeco muziek, en ik heb met hem gezongen. Ik ken zijn liederen.

Auld Lang Syne

Thanks to the girlish giggle and twinkly lilt of her voice that have helped Brooke Logan beguile and bedevil her way through the male population of THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, Katherine Kelly Lang sparkles even across 3,000 miles of telephone wire. But on this particular afternoon, shortly after Brooke has ceremoniously ditched her perennial Mr. Right — Ridge Forrester — at the altar, she also is ready to leave that Ms. Logan behind. Lang isn't exactly belting out I Am Woman, but this week Brooke roars into a welcome new state of self-empowerment, and her first date with charismatic sea captain Nick Payne.

Soap Opera Weekly: Brooke has

been a hunk magnet since the show began more than 16 years ago.
Katherine Kelly Lang: (laughing) Then why is she always so sad and depressed?

Weekly: Why is that? Do you see Brooke as a victim?

Lang: I think she puts herself in that situation a lot. She really needs to start taking control. She needs to make things happen for herself and then she'll know exactly what she's getting, and not "Oh, but I'm so in love with Ridge," and then.... That's been going on forever.

Weekly: You sound a little frustrated with her.

Lang: I am (laughs). I'm tired of leaving the show with those burning, stinging eyeballs. I walk out of the building and I can barely see because I have blurry red eyes from crying in all the scenes.

Weekly: Brooke's detractors — other characters and fans — think she is to blame for a lot of people's misfortunes and unhappiness.

Lang: Yeah, what is that? Brooke's always blamed for everything. And that's what I can't figure out still to this day (laughs). And everybody else, they do all this horrible stuff and never get blamed for anything, you know?

Weekly: So Brooke was blameless when she slept with her daughter's husband?

Lang: Oh, no, no. She should be blamed for that, definitely. There's a perfect example of Brooke not thinking ahead and just going with her feelings and her libido (laughs). She's in love with the idea of being in love, and that doesn't allow her to think properly. But even if it's baby steps, there has got to be some sign of change or learning from her mistakes, or she will always be looked down upon.

Weekly: They've tried that, but it never sticks. The scenes in the cabin with Stephanie and the memory album, and again after Stephanie and Bridget helped deliver Hope. But then it always just sort of slips away.

Lang: Exactly. Is that saying true, that a leopard never changes its spots? That's what I'm thinking (laughs).

Weekly: Maybe that's also part of Brooke's charm. I wonder if Nick Payne will get caught up in that.

Lang: (laughs) As soon as they met, everybody started calling, "Is she going to end up in bed with him?" Oh, my God, they go right to there, you know? (laughs) Not, "Is something going to develop?" Oh, the fans are hysterical.

Weekly: Well, Brooke does have a reputation. She slept with Deacon in her office, leaving Megan to change the sheets. And then the simultaneous orgasm. Brad (Bell) told me he might have pushed the envelope a little too far on that one.

Lang: Oh, well, you know what? At least he tried. I give it to Brad because he had guts to do that, he got away with it, and he probably won't ever do it again.

Weekly: Was it difficult to tape?

Lang: I think they actually cleared the set so it wouldn't look like people were gawking. And while we were doing it, it didn't seem too big to me, or seem so unreal. It didn't even seem like that's what we were doing. I think he played that on his side more than I did. I don't remember how it came off. But I don't remember really feeling like I... (laughs) I don't know how to say this! This is a weird conversation! (laughs) Because if you think about it, it's almost like doing porno or something, if you have to do that in a scene.

Weekly: Is that what it said in the script?

Lang: It said something like they actually climax together. I said, "What?! What?! That can't be. How are we going to shoot that?" But they did. They went with it, and they still weren't sure. We shot it two different ways, so they had the opportunity to take the other.

Weekly: Did you watch the show air?

Lang: I think I did (laughs). I don't remember it that well. It wasn't disgusting or anything, was it?

Weekly: I didn't think so. I thought, Oh, look what they just got away with. Did your husband watch?

Lang: No.

Weekly: Did he know you were doing it?

Lang: No (small laugh).

Weekly: Did he know afterward?

Lang: I don't think so (laughs). He really doesn't pay much attention.

Weekly: You've had to prance around in skimpy lingerie for years. Has that gotten easier for you? Do you blush?

Lang: It was hard at first, and then I did it so much that I got used to it. I'm really picky about looking good, and I don't want to be flabby or anything like that when I'm prancing around in my little underwear. I like to stay in shape anyway, but it gets harder the more busy you are and the older you get. So sometimes I get bothered by that, like, "Oh, I'm not in the perfect shape I want to be in and they're putting me in this teeny thing." But I'm pretty comfortable with it, and I don't know if it's because I've done it for so long on the show and I know everybody so well. It's like, "Oh, it's just another day."

Weekly: What if you have those kind of scenes with Jack Wagner (Nick)?

Lang: Yeah, it is harder, a little more nerve- racking doing it with somebody who's coming on new or that you don't know so well. I tend to get a little more nervous.

Weekly: Did you know Jack before he joined the show?

Lang: I have known him for years. I knew him, like, I don't even want to say....(laughs) No. I knew him when I was around 20 or something. I'd see him at different interviews here and there. I can't remember where I met him initially. It's great having him come on the show. He's such a great actor, so it's fun to work with him. He's got a great character going.

Weekly: He made an immediate statement with that stogie and match.

Lang: And I think that's something Brooke would like, you know what I mean? (laughs) That's something that would spark her interest, if she falls out of love with Ridge.

Weekly: Will that ever really happen?

Lang: Oh, that's so hard to say, because there's just so much history there. I think he's always going to be the love of her life somehow, if they're together or not. She could be with somebody else and be happy, if he has everything she needs and is interesting enough to keep her there and excited (laughs).

Weekly: What is it like working with Ronn Moss for so many years?

Lang: Well, we're like family. He's just the greatest guy ever. So professional and so respectful and so caring of everybody and everything that goes on.

Weekly: Do you see each other outside?

Lang: Occasionally. We've gotten the kids together. We used to ride together a long time ago. But pretty much I don't see other people outside of work. I'm so busy with my outside life that I don't have time.

Weekly: How did you and your husband meet? (Lang is married to manager Alex D'Andrea. Their household consists of Lang's two sons and D'Andrea's daughter from a previous marriage, and their 6-year-old daughter.)

Lang: We met in a gym, actually. Isn't that hysterical? We were both a sweaty mess (laughs) and he said he noticed my back. Yeah, right (laughs).

Weekly: That's a good line.

Lang: Isn't it funny? "Your back. I noticed your back." I said, "My back, huh?" And from there we just kind of went on a few dates and it went further and further. I think in a month we were pretty serious.

Weekly: Did you ask your sons for permission to marry him, as Ridge did with his kids?

Lang: No. When I married Alex they were like 3 and 5, so it wasn't even a question of asking them. They loved him. To them he was already their second dad by the time we married.

Weekly: I thought it was hilarious when Ridge and Thomas had a talk about Brooke and Thomas called her a hottie.

Lang: Kids are noticing things like that earlier and earlier. Oh, my God, pretty soon he'll be grown up and Brooke will be, like, (laughs) looking at Thomas.

Weekly: Stephanie would go nuts. Susan Flannery, on the other hand, thinks so highly of you that she praised you during her first Emmy acceptance speech. What was that like for you?

Lang: I was shocked and thrilled. I mean, it was hard for me to believe because I never really heard Susan say anything like that. So I was taken aback. I love her dearly! She is such a strong person, full of life and staying young forever. She is a force to be reckoned with. I watch her every day and I'm amazed by her. She's taught me a lot, just working with her, seeing how she works, how she gets the job done. She's incredible.

Weekly: In recent years, your name is often on the list of actors who should but don't get Emmy nominations.

Lang: (sighs) I don't know what to think about the whole Emmy thing. The three who got nominated from our show this year deserved it. They did it a new way this year, and I was on the first list to show a tape to the judges. So I had a chance (laughs). I had a very good chance and didn't make it. I looked at so many tapes and didn't like anything. I just felt so — it's like what we were talking about earlier, Brooke being the victim (makes a whining noise). All that whiny, whiny and playing the violin. All my scenes were like just crying and whining. And I was freaking out trying to find something, and I wasn't happy with what I picked. Brooke can get into the crying, whiny thing, but she's also got to become a little stronger and be able to stand up for herself. But as for the Emmy, I'm certainly not making an excuse. Maybe I just have to try harder (laughs).

Weekly: Do you care?

Lang: I do care. I mean, it's not life or death. It would be nice to be acknowledged and know that you're doing a good job. But you know what? The smallest thing, just like the producer saying at the end of the day, "Those were great scenes. Thank you so much." I say, "OK, great. I feel really good about that." But getting an award or an Emmy, that takes it even one step further. Sometimes I feel great about my work, but then I can also feel that burnout thing happening because I have just done it for so long and always have had kind of front-burner storylines. But then there are times when I'm really revved up, or they change the story a little bit or they bring on a new character. Like Jack now. So it kind of brings new life or spark to it, and kind of gives you a kick in the butt like, "OK, I gotta really work on this." And always, when I have scenes with Susan, I definitely try to be really prepared (laughs) and try to do something different or really strong.

Weekly: Do you ever think about leaving?

Lang: (sighs) I think about retiring someday (laughs), moving to a deserted island and sitting there and doing nothing. And then I think, Gosh, what would I do if I did? Even if I was acting and doing things here and there, I think I would miss the work that I get to do every day.

Weekly: How do you deal with those vocal fans who hate Brooke? Do you read the message boards?

Lang: Oh, gosh, no (laughs). People try to tell me about that stuff and I say, "Oh, shut up!" (laughs) When I start thinking about everybody out there who is actually watching the show, then you start freaking out. It's kind of mind-boggling, kind of surreal. I like hearing people's opinions, but I'm not going to go crazy over it, and I don't take it personally. I mean, I agree with them sometimes. I don't like what Brooke does sometimes, but I know she never meant to do anything on purpose or to really hurt anybody. Even if I was playing a bad character, I wouldn't take it personally because it's what you do and that's how people are supposed to react.

Weekly: If Brooke were a real person, would you be her friend? Is she someone you'd like to spend a day with at a spa, go for coffee with, just hang out?

Lang: (laughs) That's really weird because it's too close to home. Even if you asked that about me, I wouldn't know how to answer. Would I want to be a friend of mine, personally, Katherine? I don't know. I have a feeling if I was a friend of Brooke's I'd be spending a lot of time like Megan does, you know, listening, for Brooke to bounce off, for Brooke to cry on her shoulder, for Brooke to tell her all her problems. You know what I mean? (laughs) I would think Brooke's friend would have to be there for her and listen to her and help her through things. I'm not sure Brooke would take the time to reciprocate. I feel bad saying that because it's my character. Oh, God, I'm feeling guilty (laughs)!

Going For Brooke

This month not only marks the 16th anniversary of BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL's debut, but also the same-length tenure for four of the soap's original cast members: Susan Flannery (Stephanie), John McCook (Eric), Ronn Moss (Ridge) and Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke). Here, Lang opens up about portraying one of daytime's most endearing -- and complicated -- gems.

Digest: What word would you use to sum up your 16 years on B&B?
Katherine Kelly Lang: The first word that comes to my mind is "fun." To me, there's so much that goes into that word. Not only do I share 16 years with Ronn, Susan and John, but there are also a lot of behind-the-scenes people who have been here just as long. I think that's why there's this positive, close energy on the show. If it weren't fun, I wouldn't be here as long as I have because why do anything if you're not enjoying it?

Digest: Have the years gone by quickly or does it feel like it really has been 16 years?
Lang: For some reason, reaching the 10-year mark seemed hard for me. Once I was past that, the time has gone by quickly. There were times in the earlier years when it seemed harder. But now, I somehow missed the years between 10 and 16.

KATHERINE KELLY LANG (Brooke):
"It was totally booked up. It went by so fast! I went skiing in Utah, I went skiing in Mammoth over New Year's and I did a 50-mile horse race in Death Valley. I had so much to do all the time, especially with Christmas and training my horse. I train him all the time, but I really had to ride him a lot in December. Now I need a vacation from my time off!"

Bridget tells Dante she'll watch Dominick if Dante wants to go out for the evening. Dante surprises Bridget with an evening for the two of them. Dante shows Bridget the legal documents declaring them a family. Nick, Brooke, Hope and R.J. plan a family vacation to an island. Nick promises to never let Brooke down. Taylor tells Stephanie that she is moving on, without Ridge. At the secret hospital, Stephanie learns that Felicia has to be off life support in order to be on the liver donor list. Stephanie begs Felicia to be able to hang on.

Thursday, March
Friends and family gather for a memorial for Felicia. Tears flow when Bridget, Thorne, Kristen and the Forrester family remember Felicia fondly. Stephanie breaks down in from of everyone. Later, Stephanie visits Christian who says that things are slowly taking a turn for the better. Stephanie is absolutely thrilled. Hector and Taylor talk while Ridge tries to get through to Brooke with no success. Nick tells Ridge the divorce papers are signed so Brooke and Nick can be together.

Wednesday,
Bridget is looking at photos of happier times with Nick when arrives to collect some of his items. Bridget again gives her support to Nick to be with her mother. Bridget tells Nick she's ready to move on. Eric tries to ease Stephanie's pain of the loss of another daughter. Eric tells Stephanie he wants to have a memorial for Felicia. Stephanie talks of Felicia in the present tense, which confuses Eric. Later, Stephanie calls Christian and urges him not to give up on saving Felicia. Ridge vows to Brooke that he will never lose her.

Tuesday,
Ridge tries to get Stephanie to open up about Felicia's death. Ridge shares his plan with Stephanie on how he wants to win over Brooke. Brooke and Bridget discuss the last couple of days and Bridget continues to give her support to her mother and her involvement with Nick. Nick declares his love for Brooke to Taylor, who can see how much he cares for Brooke. Brooke visits Nick and declares her love for him. The two decide out of respect for Bridget to wait until his divorce is final to make love. Stephanie wants an update on Felicia, but Christian says it's too big.

Monday, March
Taylor and Nick discuss their drunken night together. Taylor tells Nick that she thinks she set the record straight with Brooke. Dante wants to spend his life with Bridget, but she's not ready. Bridget's worried about losing Dominick and Dante assures her, that will not happen. Stephanie urges a comatose Felicia to get better so they can surprise the family. Dr. Christian Ramirez informs Stephanie of the long journey of recovery for Felicia. Stephanie realizes the treatment isn't a cure, but will buy more time for Felicia. Stephanie puts family pictures all around the room.
